Summer Splash
This pattern collection began a while ago, when I first started making seamless patterns. I had an idea to replicate from memory the design of a favorite bathing suit that I wore to the beach all summer when I was 16 years old. It had blue and turqoise tropical flowers on a white background and it looked great with a tan.
I left the design alone for a long time and then looked at it again, decided to improve it and it went from there. I thought up color variations, envisioned beach umbrellas, sparkling swimming pools, beach towels, fireworks at Jones Beach on the 4th of July, seaweed, bubbles, starfish, shells and seahorses. I have so many memories of being underwater with bubbles all around me - and I loved it!
When it comes to my vision for anything related to the beach, I think of colors that align with a youthful vibrancy, the blues of the ocean and summer sky, the sparkle on the water's surface, and colors that look great with sun-kissed skin.
